Chief Financial Officer

Waytek

Waytek is a well-established, growth-oriented distributor serving industrial and commercial customers across North America, with a long track record of operational excellence, strong customer loyalty, and a reputation for reliability in mission-critical applications. The new CFO will step into a highly visible, enterprise role overseeing finance, accounting, FP&A, and business partnership for a multi-site organization with national reach and a scalable operating model. This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic, hands-on finance leader to help guide Waytek through its next phase of growth - strengthening financial rigor, enhancing data-driven decision making, and supporting continued expansion while preserving the disciplined culture that has fueled the company’s success to date. The role offers meaningful influence, close partnership with the executive team, and the chance to modernize and evolve the finance function in lockstep with the business.

A Foundation you can build on

Getting a sense of the foundation that has been built prior to your arrival offers a lens through which you can see where your career may go.

Waytek

Waytek is known as a long-standing, trusted industrial and automotive specialty electrical distributor focused on automotive wire, DC electrical components, and related products for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), wire harness manufacturers, and upfitters throughout North America. As a family-owned business founded in 1970 and headquartered in Chanhassen, Minnesota, Waytek has carved out a niche by offering an extensive product portfolio - spanning connectors, circuit protection devices, switches, relays, and more - paired with exceptional service and rapid same-day fulfillment for in-stock orders.

Waytek sits upstream in the vehicle and equipment value chain, supplying components critical to electrical systems in commercial trucks, trailers, construction and agricultural equipment, emergency vehicles, and other mobile platforms. The company’s strategy emphasizes deep supplier partnerships, expanding offerings through agreements with leading manufacturers and leveraging a broad line card to meet evolving customer needs in automotive, transportation, and industrial applications. In an industry marked by competition from large global distributors and component specialists, Waytek’s focus on service, availability, and tailored product solutions helps it maintain a differentiated position while supporting customers in markets that rely on reliable electrical systems and rapid parts availability.

History

Since its founding in 1970 by Wayne Larson as a small manufacturer’s rep business, Waytek has evolved into a respected, family-owned distributor of automotive wire and DC electrical components headquartered in Chanhassen, Minnesota. Early growth included hiring future long-time President Bob Lamoreaux and moving from Wayne’s basement into the company’s first warehouse by 1976, followed by a strategic shift in 1980 to focus exclusively on distribution—a move that set the stage for expansion into a 25,000 sq ft facility by 1989 and launching its first catalog and website by the late 1990s. Leadership passed to the second generation of Larsons in 2003, ushering in major investments such as a 100,000 sq ft facility in 2007 and modern warehouse technologies that significantly boosted order capacity; other milestones include workforce growth past 100 employees and recognition like the Minnesota Family Business Award. Throughout its history, Waytek’s leadership and strategic decisions - centered on customer service, operational excellence, and innovative distribution practices - have propelled its growth across North America while maintaining its core family and service-driven culture.

Scale

Although intentionally lean in its corporate footprint, Waytek operates at meaningful national scale within the automotive and industrial electrical distribution market. From its headquarters and centralized distribution operation in Minnesota, the company supports customers across North America with a broad, deep catalog of thousands of SKUs spanning wire, connectors, circuit protection, switches, and electrical components. With more than 100 employees and decades of operational refinement, Waytek fulfills a high volume of time-sensitive orders for OEMs, upfitters, and manufacturers who depend on reliability and speed in mission-critical applications. Its scale is amplified by long-standing supplier partnerships, a highly efficient distribution model, and a service-driven culture that enables Waytek to punch well above its weight while remaining agile, collaborative, and deeply customer focused
