Pentair is one of the world's leading global producers of Water solutions generating over $4B in annual revenue across all major categories including Pool, Commercial Water solutions and Industrial Flow technologies, selling their products across multiple regions around the globe including North America, South America, Europe and Australia.  Following its official start in 1966, Pentair's first few decades of history were decorated in ups and downs as the company entered and exited varying industries including research balloons, paper production, power tools (Delta/Porter Cable), enclosures, and electrical solutions, seemingly searching for its mainstay identity.  This dynamic changed in 2004 when Pentair officially entered the Water Solutions space via a strategic acquisition of Wicor Industries.  The next 20 years of Pentair's history have been earmarked by successes in growing into one of the most powerful, pure play Water Solutions companies across the globe.  In 2018, the final non-water business of Pentair's was divested, leaving room for continued laser-focus and investment in growth across end-to-end Water Solutions. 

Looking towards the future, the pool industry is projecting ~$8B of global growth over the next 4 years with significant innovation ahead tailored to the next generation of buyers focused on sustainability, energy efficiency, hygiene, and cleanliness. With this in mind, Pentair's executive team is seeking its next General Manager who will oversee the ~$400M Water Quality business unit, which sits within Pentair's most well-established, $1.4B North American market leading Pool segment. This highly strategic GM will redefine the category by laser focusing on market insights and voice of the customer research leading to new product development and commercialization, effectively unlocking the explosive growth potential of this product category.

President and Chief Revenue Officer - Pool (Direct Manager)

Greg Claffey is a seasoned business professional with nearly 25 years of experience in Marketing, Sales, and Management at several distinguished organizations in the water products and solutions industry. Greg quickly climbed the ranks to executive leadership given his combination of a strong technical background with excellent business acumen, as is represented by his education where he received a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering from Boston University along with an Executive MBA from Duke University. As the current President of Pentair's Pool segment, Greg has dedicated the past 6 years of his career to driving high growth and profitability within Pentair. His responsibilities as President of Pool encompass leading multi-million dollar business units, overseeing Heating, Lighting, Cleaning, Filtration, and other related Pool & Spa solution teams across multiple global facilities. Known for his expertise in lean operations and mechanical & industrial engineering, he thrives on the challenges of growing dynamic businesses and solving complex problems. Colleagues would describe him as a go-to global executive who excels in execution, remains calm under pressure, and prioritizes teamwork and results over personal recognition.

Jerome is the articulate and well respected Chief Executive Officer of the Pool Segment at Pentair. With over two decades of experience in operational leadership, Jerome has a proven track record of driving growth and innovation in the industrial and consumer sectors. He joined Pentair in 2008 and has held various leadership positions within the company, including overseeing key divisions such as Industrial and Flow Technologies. He is known for his strategic vision, customer-centric approach, and commitment to delivering energy-efficient, high-quality pool and water solutions. He holds an engineering degree from École Centrale de Lyon in France and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, bringing a unique blend of technical expertise and business acumen to his role.

A Day in the Life

Through extensive market research, Pentair has found for the first time in years, pools are now being inherited or purchased by the younger generations. This new customer demographic has shown a high interest and concern for advanced, luxurious products focused on sustainability, energy efficiency, hygiene, and cleanliness. Historically, there is a distinct linear correlation in this space between new found innovation and accelerated growth, hence the ~$8B projected growth rate in this market over the next 4 years. 

Pentair's next senior P&L leader in Pool will work across Pool's matrixed leadership team driving business growth, overseeing product, product strategy, and commercialization, with sales, and marketing oversight. The GM will have the opportunity to influence and work through all matrixes and functions to impact a ~$400 million business slated for significant growth that is focused on filtration and sanitization products within the broader Pool market.

Many companies are innovating within the space, but have lacked the ability to "crack the code" with new products aligned to new-found market insights. This GM will truly redefine this category by driving growth through innovation and new product development aligned to market trends like sustainability, energy efficiency, hygiene, and cleanliness, leaning heavily into Voice Of Customer research, benchmarking competitors in and outside the pool industry, and testing of new prototypes to drive new product development through to commercialization. This GM will report directly into one of Pentair's most respected and skilled Presidents, Greg Claffey, and will be a critical component to Pentair's senior leadership team.

  • Manage a growth-focused global product portfolio, comprised of pool systems and products worth roughly $400 million in annual sales. 
  • Category P&L accountability: Own and execute Revenue, Standard Margin, and Growth goals and deliver to yearly financial plan targets 
  • Develop and drive strategy and translate business direction into global product portfolio decisions
  • Lead and develop a customer-focused, accountable and high-performing Product Management team
  • Lead other functions that are dedicated to supporting our Pool category such as Sales, Marketing, Technology and Services indirectly through a matrix relationship

Requirements

  • 8-10+ years of product management / business development / category leadership experience
  • A driven leader with inspiring enthusiasm for product management + development 
  • Experience building and executing cross-category strategic product roadmaps 
  • An understanding of best-in-class Product Marketing and ability to lead strategic marketing team to build consumer insight capabilities, gather and analyze voice-of-customer, and deliver impactful integrated marketing plans 
  • Strong financial acumen – ability to drive decisions that deliver financial/business goals  
  • Capability to interact with technical teams and experience working in an agile environment. Ability to build and sustain strong cross-functional relationships functional to influence, ensure open communications and drive alignment
