Pentair is one of the world's leading global producers of Water solutions generating over $4B in annual revenue across all major categories including Pool, Commercial Water solutions and Industrial Flow technologies, selling their products across multiple regions around the globe including North America, South America, Europe and Australia.  Following its official start in 1966, Pentair's first few decades of history were decorated in ups and downs as the company entered and exited varying industries including research balloons, paper production, power tools (Delta/Porter Cable), enclosures, and electrical solutions, seemingly searching for its mainstay identity.  This dynamic changed in 2004 when Pentair officially entered the Water Solutions space via a strategic acquisition of Wicor Industries.  The next 20 years of Pentair's history have been earmarked by successes in growing into one of the most powerful, pure play Water Solutions companies across the globe.  In 2018, the final non-water business of Pentair's was divested, leaving room for continued laser-focus and investment in growth across end-to-end Water Solutions. 

In 2024, the U.S. Geological Survey conducted research estimating that over 20% of the U.S. population potentially rely on groundwater with detectable levels of PFAS -- also called "forever chemicals" -- for their water drinking supply. PFAS are persistent, do not break down naturally and are known to pose significant health risks. With consumer concern for residential water quality at an all time high, the Pentair executive team seeks a seasoned General Manager who will lead the global, high-growth ~$200M Residential Water systems business unit. This forward-thinking and inquisitive GM will set the strategy for the water systems portfolio by focusing on channel prioritization, aligning product innovation to emerging market opportunities, and inspiring a team to get behind one shared vision.

In 1966, Pentair was founded by five individuals in St. Paul, Minnesota, with the name stemming from "penta" for the founders and "air" for their intended products. Deepak Rao (Hiring Leader)

Group President - Residential Water Treatment

Deepak serves as the Group President of Pentair's Residential Water Treatment Business Unit and oversees operations in China and Southeast Asia. He has been with Pentair since 2006, holding various leadership roles, including Vice President positions in Global Sales and Filtration Solutions where he led the business to deliver significant top line and bottom line growth through a focus on driving transformation of the organization to a customer facing, innovation driven business unit. Prior to joining Pentair, Rao held leadership roles at GE in Water & Process Technologies where he garnered a reputation as a leader in the industry. He holds a degree in Chemical Engineering and possesses expertise in product development, process engineering, and water treatment.

Adrian is the Executive Vice President of the ~$1.2B Water Solutions segment at Pentair and has established himself as a well respected senior leader within the organization over the course of his 13 year tenure with the company. Prior to joining Pentair, Adrian excelled as a consultant for organizations such as IBM and PWC. In his current role as one of three segment executives, Adrian oversees the strategic direction and operational excellence of Pentair's ~$1.2B Water Solutions segment, driving innovation and delivering impactful solutions for residential, commercial, and industrial water challenges. With extensive experience in global business leadership, Adrian is committed to advancing Pentair’s mission and goals. A Day in the Life

Consumers are increasingly becoming more knowledgeable and concerned about their water quality. Aquasana conducted a Water Quality Survey in 2023 revealing, "70% of Americans are concerned about unfiltered tap water in their homes", which is a significant increase from just 17% in 2021. To address this growing market concern, Pentair has been on a mission to expand and grow their Residential portfolio, mainly through inorganic growth by acquiring notable brands in this category including Aquion, Rainsoft, and Pelican. For the last ~6 years, Pentair has been organizing, creating structural clarity for this business unit and completing thorough integration of these new companies and executing product rationalization. 

Pentair's next senior leader P&L leader in Water Solutions will drive extensive business growth for a global $200M portfolio overseeing sales, product, product strategy, with marketing and technology oversight. Residential Water Systems is a relatively new business unit, however the executive team firmly believes with the right leadership at the helm, this business will double in size over the next few years alone. This business sells through 4 main channels, including Amazon, Retail (Home Depot, Menards), Pro, and Wholesale distribution. Pentair is seeking a strong, seasoned decision maker who can drive strategic decision making around how to focus and hone in on the channel(s) that allow for greatest short and long-term growth opportunity. 

This GM will need to think big picture, understanding how to drive growth and set a targeted, strategic plan for the future while also keeping daily execution in mind. As this team continues to align and mature, this GM will need to motivate and inspire the broader team and unveil the massive growth opportunity for years to come. 

This GM will report directly to the Group President, Deepak Rao, and will be a critical component to Pentair's senior leadership team.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and drives strategy and translates business direction into global product portfolio decisions for the entire category – meeting or exceeding P&L Targets (i.e., sales, standard margin).
  • In particular drive the Go To market strategy , NPD, VAVE, SIOP and forecasting for the  category incorporating all aspects of the business including Sales, Operations, Marketing, Technology, Financial, Human Resources, Compliance, and others. 
  • Develop a strong commercialization and go-to-market strategy for each channel within the Filtration business and adjust based on market and consumer trends.
  • Responsible for establishing a key account management approach in all channels (Retail, Wholesale, ecommerce) & establishing strong relationships by driving joint marketing and development programs
  • Leads Sales and Product Management functions but indirectly aligns, inspires, and develops teams across functional and geographic boundaries. 
  • Utilizes data to diagnose business strengths and weaknesses and identify the implications for potential strategies to increase financial performance and growth.

  • At least 10 years of product management, business development and/or category leadership experience.
  • Experience building and executing a commercialization plan across multiple channels 
  • Strong financial acumen and the ability to drive decisions that deliver business goals.   
  • A driven leader with inspiring enthusiasm for product management and development. 
  • Ability to build and sustain strong cross-functional relationships functional to influence, ensure open communications and drive alignment. 
  • Desire to build a sense of shared purpose and vision to focus Pentair’s strategic product development and launch plans to deliver impactful, meaningful products and experiences to consumers and partners.
