Pentair is one of the world's leading global producers of end-to-end Water Treatment, Water Filtration, and Water Sustainability solutions.  Following its official start in 1966, Pentair's first few decades of history were decorated in ups and downs as the company entered and exited varying industries including research balloons, paper production, power tools (Delta/Porter Cable), enclosures, and electrical solutions, seemingly searching for its mainstay identity.  This dynamic changed in 2004 when Pentair officially entered the Water Solutions space via a strategic acquisition of Wicor Industries.  The next 20 years of Pentair's history have been earmarked by successes in growing into one of the most powerful Water Solutions companies across the globe.  In 2018, the final non-water business of Pentair's was divested, leaving room for continued laser-focus and investment in growth across end-to-end Water Solutions across three primary business segments - Pool, Industrial Flow, and Commercial Water Solutions.  Pentair's executive team is seeking the next General Manager who will have full accountability over a profitable category P&L within the Industrial Flow business segment, while leveraging the power of hundreds of employees and Pentair's enterprise resources to drive an expansion of this critical business. This GM will have the opportunity to drive product and commercial success across complex product lines and market segments.  In addition, this role is a highly visible component of Pentair's executive succession ladder as the company looks to grow by identifying talented senior leaders from the outside, and providing continued career growth opportunities into senior executive leadership.

In 1966, Pentair was founded by five individuals in St. Paul, Minnesota, with the name stemming from "penta" for the founders and "air" for their intended products. This multidisciplinary team works in harmony to drive Pentair's Industrial Flow Technologies, ensuring that it consistently meets and exceeds customer expectations. The Industrial Flow business unit is primarily focused on wastewater management, flood control and water supply pumps. It has a healthy P&L (with this GM role holding accountability for $300 million of it) with the bulk of the customer base being the North America residential market, however they do have a global reach and maintain some commercial presence.

De'Mon Wiggins is an accomplished executive who serves as the Executive Vice President and President of Industrial Flow Technologies at Pentair. De'Mon has been with Pentair for over 13 years and has gained extensive knowledge the business. He is well-respected across the organization after having serving in key leadership roles across a variety of segments including Pool, Filtration, Fluid Motion, and Industrial Flow Technologies. With a proven track record in the industrial sector, Wiggins brings over two decades of experience in strategic leadership and operational excellence to his role as President. Holding an MBA from Pfeiffer University along with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University, he combines his technical expertise with a keen business acumen. Known for his collaborative approach and commitment to fostering innovation, Wiggins champions a leadership style that values transparency, empowerment, and continuous improvement. A Day in the Life

The General Manager for a critical segment of Pentair's Industrial Flow business will lead a high-performance team that thrives on developing and launching impactful, leading products and services for customers. This individual will lead a growth-focused product portfolio within a business unit that is profitable and has the potential for continued growth with the current focus being on outperforming the market and delivering better results than competitors. The General Manager will develop and drive the overall growth and profitability strategy for the complex filtration product categories through a cross-functional direct report team of Product, Sales, and Service leaders as well as matrixed leaders from Operations, Technology, Finance and Marketing.

As the General Manager within the Pentair portfolio, this leader will work cross functionally across the matrixed leadership team driving business growth. This leader will oversee product, product strategy, and commercialization, with sales, and marketing oversight. The GM will have the opportunity to influence and work through all matrixes and functions to ultimately impact the $300 million P&L they own.

This GM will need to be highly execution focused, relational, innovative, and strategic as they are responsible for making Pentair's Industrial Flow growth goals a reality through excellent leadership over the product lines in their perview.  This GM will report directly to the Group President and will be a critical component to Pentair's senior leadership team.

  • Manage a growth-focused product portfolio, comprised of Industrial systems and products
  • Category P&L accountability ($300 million): Own and execute Revenue, Standard Margin, and Growth goals and deliver to yearly financial plan targets 
  • Develop and drive strategy and translate business direction into global product portfolio decisions
  • Lead and develop a customer-focused, accountable and high-performing Product Management team
  • Lead other functions that are dedicated to supporting our Industrial Flow category such as Sales, Marketing, Technology and Services indirectly through a matrix relationship

Requirements

  • 8-10+ years of product management / business development / category leadership experience
  • A driven leader with inspiring enthusiasm for product management + development 
  • Experience building and executing cross-category strategic product roadmaps 
  • An understanding of best-in-class Product Marketing and ability to lead strategic marketing team to build consumer insight capabilities, gather and analyze voice-of-customer, and deliver impactful integrated marketing plans 
  • Strong financial acumen – ability to drive decisions that deliver financial/business goals  
  • Capability to interact with technical teams and experience working in an agile environment. Ability to build and sustain strong cross-functional relationships functional to influence, ensure open communications and drive alignment
