Pentair is one of the world's leading global producers of end-to-end Water Treatment, Water Filtration, and Water Sustainability solutions.  Following its official start in 1966, Pentair's first few decades of history were decorated in ups and downs as the company entered and exited varying industries including research balloons, paper production, power tools (Delta/Porter Cable), enclosures, and electrical solutions, seemingly searching for its mainstay identity.  This dynamic changed in 2004 when Pentair officially entered the Water Solutions space via a strategic acquisition of Wicor Industries.  The next 20 years of Pentair's history have been earmarked by successes in growing into one of the most powerful Water Solutions companies across the globe.  In 2018, the final non-water business of Pentair's was divested, leaving room for continued laser-focus and investment in growth across end-to-end Water Solutions.  Pentair's executive team is seeking the next Commercial Water Solution Group President who will oversee a very healthy ~$800M P&L, while leveraging the power of hundreds of business unit employees and Pentair's enterprise resources to drive an expansion of this critical set of businesses which includes Manitowoc Ice (~$400M), EverPure/Filtration (~$250M), and the Services business (~$150M) that integrates everything. The GP will lead across complex product lines and different market segments, with a major focus on selling through distribution into the Foodservice space.  This leadership role is a highly visible component of Pentair's executive succession ladder as the company looks to grow by identifying talented senior leaders from the outside, and providing continued career growth opportunities into senior executive leadership.

Pentair's Commercial Water Solutions business unit (~$800M) is a leading manufacturer and distributor of high-quality ice machines (Manitowoc Ice), filtration systems (EverPure), and the integral Services business that integrates the segment for commercial customers, mostly across the foodservice and hospitality space. With a rich history, Pentair has established itself as a global leader in the water solutions category, notably in filtration and ice-making, through a relentless focus on innovation, quality, and customer service.

History

In 1966, Pentair was founded by five individuals in St. Paul, Minnesota, with the name stemming from "penta" for the founders and "air" for their intended products. The company initially diversified across various industries, including paper mills, before evolving and eventually establishing a more clear proposition as a global water company. Throughout its history, Pentair has emphasized growth, profitability, and its commitment to creating a better world through innovative water solutions. In recent years, it has expanded its sustainability efforts and broadened its portfolio through strategic acquisitions to become a major multi-billion dollar player in the global water treatment space.  More specifically, Pentair has made highly intelligent decisions within its Commercial Water Solutions segment, particularly around M&A including the $1.4B acquisition of market-leading global Ice Machine producer, Manitowoc Ice, and the decision to vertically integrate its foodservice machinery and filtration businesses via the acquisition of Ken's Beverage, a top service and maintenance provider within the foodservice space.

A Day in the Life

The Group President for Pentair's critical Commercial Water Solutions business will lead a high-performance team that thrives on developing and launching impactful, leading products and services for commercial customers mostly across foodservice and hospitality. This individual will lead a growth-focused global product portfolio with over $750 million in annual sales. The Group President will develop and drive the overall growth and profitability strategy for the Manitowoc Ice, complex Filtration/EverPure product categories as well as KBI services through a cross-functional team of Product, Sales, Service, Operations, Technology, Finance, and Marketing leaders.

As the Group President within the Pentair portfolio, this leader will work cross functionally across the matrixed leadership team driving business growth. This leader will oversee product, product strategy, and commercialization, with sales, and marketing oversight. The Group President will have the opportunity to influence and work through all matrixes and functions to ultimately impact the $750 million P&L they own.

This leader will be highly execution focused, relational, innovative, and strategic as they are responsible for making Pentair's Commercial Water Solution growth goals a reality through excellent leadership over the product lines in their purview.  This Group President will report directly to the Adrian Chiu, EVP of Commercial Water Solutions, and will be a critical component to Pentair's senior leadership team.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver on Business revenue & standard income commitments.

  • Lead cross functional business team (Marketing, Sales, Technology, Operations, Sourcing, Finance, HR, Legal) to drive day to day execution, ensure customer satisfaction, implement Segment strategies and improve processes.

  • Translate customer insights into actionable growth strategies to expand sales and margins.

  • Drive Product (& services) Lifecycle Management: pricing, innovation, rationalization and differentiation of Products, Services and Go-to-market strategies (Channels, Digital pull).

  • Lead, transform & align across the enterprise product management capabilities (talent, processes, tools and metrics).

  • Drive Vertical market growth and collaborate across the enterprise to identify additional growth vectors.

  • Ensure strong funnel of opportunities (incl. projects) and robust conversion rates.

Requirements

  • Have had demonstrated experience with Global product management responsibility. 

  • Demonstrated an ability to lead cross functional teams in order to achieve success to goals and long term strategy.

  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to influence others.

  • Ability to present complex or difficult messages clearly and persuasively.
