Renewal by Andersen, the extremely high growth direct-to-consumer replacement window subsidiary organization of Andersen Corporation, has experienced explosive growth and maturation over the last decade as it has become the largest vertically integrated remodeling company in its category. In 2022, Renewal by Andersen generated nearly $4 Billion in gross sales across its network of 100+ field locations throughout the United States and Canada. 

Due to extensive, consistent growth over the last decade and specifically 40% growth over the last two years, Renewal has recently expanded their core manufacturing facility in Cottage Grove, MN now totaling 1.1 million square feet with additional manufacturing locations well underway in order to keep pace with consumer demand. The Senior Director of Operations, a core member of the Enterprise Operations Committee, will assume full accountability of the Cottage Grove location and be the only leader with full end-to-end value stream responsibility including manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, engineering, and maintenance. This person will be leading a relatively large and diverse team of over 1,500 associates including a team of roughly 8 direct reports, driving the evolution and maturation of Renewal's operational processes and overall business growth strategy.

Renewal by Andersen is the full service, direct-to-consumer window replacement division of Andersen Corporation, North America's largest and most reputable window and door manufacturer and brand. Renewal is the fastest-growing division of Andersen Corporation, with 20%+ year-over-year growth over nearly the last decade.

History

Andersen Corporation was founded in 1903 along the Saint Croix River in Minnesota by Hans Andersen and his family. In the mid 1990's, having established itself as a top brand in its category, Andersen saw an opportunity to introduce a custom replacement window division. Renewal by Andersen was born of this decision over 25 years ago as the vertically integrated, full-service, direct-to-consumer “replacement window” division of Andersen and has since grown tremendously, driving major bottom-line performance and extensive innovation across Andersen's enterprise.

Renewal by Andersen, backed by one of the largest and most prominent voices in the greater building materials industry today, is now truly known as a benchmark in the overarching direct-to-consumer space across the US and into Canada given its increasingly innovative approach to, and major investments in, traditional, non-traditional, and digital marketing, its uncompromising devotion to creating unforgettable end-to-end Customer Experiences, and perhaps most importantly, its dedication to technology disruption. In an industry that is lacking in technological thought-leadership, Renewal is an absolute stand-out.

Renewal by Andersen is by far the largest full-service, vertically integrated remodeling company that exists in North America today.  It drives nearly $4 Billion in gross sales across its 100+ branches in the US and into Canada.  Most exciting is the fact that, while Renewal's top and bottom line performance is incredibly impressive, it is still relatively early in its evolution as an organization with immense marketshare and growth opportunities in front of it.  The continued growth and scalability of Renewal by Andersen is being intensely invested in by the Andersen enterprise.  After 3 recent expansions to Renewal's central production facility in MN, which now totals nearly 1 million square feet, production facility site number 2 has been selected with build-out beginning in 2023 in Locust Grove, GA, and production facility site number 3 has also been selected with build-out timing TBD.

Jeremy Fossum

Vice President - Composites and RbA Operations (Direct Manager)

Jeremy is a 24-year Andersen vet and is known across the organization as one of the most driven leaders in the enterprise. Given his tenure, but more importantly experience in a variety of functions including operations, supply chain, engineering, composites, and technology, Jeremy plays a critical role in developing the business for the future driving intentional connections between the shop floor and RbA customers resulting in a world-class homeowner experience. Jeremy is truly honest and forthcoming in his leadership style and is of the mindset that direct, real-time feedback is a gift and that gift is a two-way street between himself and his team. With this in mind, Jeremy understands the importance of autonomy and gives his team the proper latitude and space to drive their initiatives forward successfully with minimal oversight. Jeremy considers himself to be a visionary leader always looking toward the future positioning Renewal as the leader of impactful change and innovation.

Lance is a seasoned supply chain and logistics executive with 30 years of supply chain leadership experience, the last 18 of which he has spent at Andersen making significant contributions to the enterprise's growth, evolution, and innovation.  He is a genuine personality who demonstrates high levels of empathy for his team and peers.  Recently, Lance acted as Chief Information Officer of Andersen driving early stage supply chain automation and integration initiatives to unleash the potential for a more "smart" manufacturing operation.  After passing the baton to Kelly Aronson (now CIO), Lance has shifted back to Supply Chain into what he has considered his "dream job" to lead an enterprise transformation of the function during a time of explosive company growth.

A Day in the Life

Even after 25+ years of success, Renewal by Andersen is showing zero signs of slowing down and is the pivotal driver of growth in the broader Andersen enterprise. For so long the 'bread and butter' of RbA's business has been the sales and marketing functions; however, executive leadership acknowledges operations is the lifeblood of the company and is investing significantly to modernize current operations and expand their manufacturing footprint, demonstrated recently by the bold decision to acquire and built out a second 1 million square foot production operation in Georgia which will quickly double the entire manufacturing operation for RbA by 2025. This leader will get out ahead of current operations in Cottage Grove specifically and the general business playing offense to continue a laser-focus on intentionally connecting the shop floor to the world-renowned homeowner experience RbA is known for. With a team of 1,500+ associates and roughly 8 direct reports that are highly talented across several functions, this leader will drive the full end-to-end value stream at the Cottage Grove manufacturing location consisting of 14 manufacturing lines (in process of additional two lines) producing 1.3M units annually. Renewal needs a strong people-leader who has the propensity to coach, mentor, and guide a robust operations team to realize their full potential. This team is driving significant initiatives to harness emerging capabilities such as new product lines, centralizing technology systems, and investing in employee career growth.

  • Build & drive a culture of operational excellence that is built on standardized systems, built in quality, engagement, metric visibility & accountability, and overall process and system capabilities in line with lean manufacturing philosophies.  Focus on safety, continuous improvement, waste elimination and root cause problem solving that drives the optimization of our customer experience with a focus on world class levels of quality and delivery, asset utilization, operational profit, and business growth.
  • Attract, recruit, develop, and retain a strong diverse operations team. Develop staff and leaders into world class business owners. Advocate and inspire diversity, performance management, and succession planning to develop and retain our future leaders. Analyze and creates employee engagement initiatives while exceeding operational expectations.
  • Effectively develop, implement and scale new capacity, products & services that enable the continued rapid growth in revenue and profitability for the enterprise and deliver a world class customer experience to our retail network and homeowners.  Enhance internal technology platforms and solutions that optimize our end-to-end supply chain performance and transparency and enable us to scale our Cottage Grove campus by nearly 40% in the next 3 years while launching our second manufacturing campus in Locust Grove, GA.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10+ years of directly related experience
  • Minimum of a four-year degree in business, manufacturing, engineering or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of Operations, Engineering, Quality, Logistics, & Supply Chain Management 
  • Experienced in leading and optimizing the end-to-end supply chain within a direct retail market
  • Demonstrated knowledge of application of Lean principles
  • Knowledge and experience working within a World Class Net Promoter Score environment.
  • Prior demonstrated experience leading rapid growth areas within manufacturing.
