This leader will be empowered to leverage the power of hundreds of employees and Uponor's enterprise resources to drive an expansion of this critical business. This GM will have the opportunity to drive product and commercial success across complex product lines and market segments.  In addition, this role is a highly visible component of Uponor's executive succession ladder as the company looks to grow by identifying talented senior leaders from the outside, and providing continued career growth opportunities into senior executive leadership.

History

Uponor’s story began in 1918, when founder Aukusti Asko-Avonius established a carpentry workshop in Lahti, Finland which quickly grew into the largest furniture supplier in the Nordic countries. In the 1960’s, the company expanded its business further into the plastics industry and then later their innovative spirit naturally led them to pursue developing next-generation alternatives to piping materials. Uponor's continual focus on sustainability and energy savings as an organization has resulted in smarter water usage all over the world. In 1990, Uponor opened their first factory in the US in Apple Valley, Minnesota which has since become the headquarters for Uponor North America while the company's global headquarters are in Helsinki, Finland.

Andres Caballero

Chief Executive & President, Building Flow Solutions Americas
Andres Caballero is the Chief Executive and President of Building Flow Solutions Americas at Uponor. With a robust background in mechanical engineering and business administration, Andres has over two decades of experience in the construction and HVAC industries. His career trajectory includes significant leadership roles at well-respected organizations such as Honeywell and Kimerance Investment & Consulting Group where he demonstrated a knack for strategic growth and operational excellence. Known for his collaborative and innovative leadership style, Andres fosters a culture of inclusivity and continuous improvement. Under his guidance, Uponor's Building Flow Solutions Americas has seen substantial advancements in sustainable building technologies and market expansion. His commitment to sustainability and customer-centric solutions continues to drive the company forward in a competitive industry.

A Day in the Life

The General Manager for a critical segment of Uponor's Climate Solutions business will lead a high-performance team that thrives on developing and launching impactful, leading products and services for customers. This individual will lead a growth-focused product portfolio within a business unit that is profitable and has the potential for continued growth with the current focus being on outperforming the market and delivering better results than competitors. The General Manager will develop and drive the overall growth and profitability strategy for the complex filtration product categories through a cross-functional direct report team of Product, Sales, and Service leaders as well as matrixed leaders from Operations, Technology, Finance and Marketing.

As the General Manager within the Uponor portfolio, this leader will work cross functionally across the matrixed leadership team driving business growth. This leader will oversee product, product strategy, and commercialization, with sales, and marketing oversight. The GM will have the opportunity to influence and work through all matrixes and functions to ultimately impact the $30 million P&L they own.

This GM will need to be highly execution focused, relational, innovative, and strategic as they are responsible for making Uponor's Climate Solutions growth goals a reality through excellent leadership over the product lines in their perview.  This GM will report directly to the Group President and will be a critical component to Uponor's senior leadership team.

  • Manage a growth-focused product portfolio, comprised of systems and products
  • Category P&L accountability ($30 million): Own and execute Revenue, Standard Margin, and Growth goals and deliver to yearly financial plan targets 
  • Develop and drive strategy and translate business direction into global product portfolio decisions
  • Lead and develop a customer-focused, accountable and high-performing Product Management team
  • Lead other functions that are dedicated to supporting our Climate Solutions category such as Sales, Marketing, Technology and Services indirectly through a matrix relationship

Requirements

  • 8-10+ years of product management / business development / category leadership experience
  • A driven leader with inspiring enthusiasm for product management + development 
  • Experience building and executing cross-category strategic product roadmaps 
  • An understanding of best-in-class Product Marketing and ability to lead strategic marketing team to build consumer insight capabilities, gather and analyze voice-of-customer, and deliver impactful integrated marketing plans 
  • Strong financial acumen – ability to drive decisions that deliver financial/business goals  
  • Capability to interact with technical teams and experience working in an agile environment. Ability to build and sustain strong cross-functional relationships functional to influence, ensure open communications and drive alignment
